JAMMU, Jan 23: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Central University of Jammu unit organised a panel discussion on ‘Youth and Bharat: Building Character through the Legacies of Vivekananda and Bose’.
The programme was organised to sensitise the youth towards the ideals of character building, nationalism, discipline and selfless service, as propounded by Swami Vivekananda and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
ABVP CU Jammu unit president, Abhishek Choudhary delivered the welcome address.
The panel discussion was graced by Prof. Asit Mantry (Head of the Department of Educational Studies) and Prof. Ritu Bakshi (Dean Students Welfare, Central University of Jammu) as distinguished guests.
Prof. Asit Mantry highlighted that Swami Vivekananda’s vision of man-making education remains extremely relevant even today and can guide the youth in becoming responsible citizens and committed nation-builders.
Prof. Ritu Bakshi referred to the life and sacrifices of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and remarked that courage, discipline, determination and a spirit of service to the nation are indispensable qualities for the youth of today.
Student panellists Kashish Thakur, Akanksha Sharma, Shivangi Sharma, Sudhakar Sharma, Lovish Manhas and Gourav Sharma also presented their views.
The panel discussion concluded with a vote of thanks, by ABVP CU Jammu secretary, Rupal Slathia.
Meanwhile, J&K Freedom Fighter Memorial Association (JKFFMA) paid floral tributes at the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at Mahesh Pura Chowk on his birth anniversary.
Satish Kumar Sharma, JKFFMA chairman, recalled Netaji’s fearless leadership and unwavering patriotism.
Prof S.S Bhalwan urged the youth to follow the ideals of Netaji.
Karnail Chand, working president, Raj Kumar, general secretary, Ritu Kumar, advisor to Mahila Morcha and others also paid tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
