Panchayat Sahar residents’ hunger strike enters 4th day

KATHUA, Dec 1: The relay hunger strike of residents of Panchayat Sahar entered the 4th day today. Two members of Panchayat Sahar are sitting on 24 hours hunger strike daily.
Two new members as Parkash Singh and Raj Kumar today sit on hunger strike in protest against the mining in Sahar Khad of Kathua .
As no one from Government comes to listen to the grievances of Sahar villagers, the people have resolved to continue hunger strike till the demand is met braving the cold nights.
To save the environment and natural resources the residents of Panchayat Sahar are protesting against the mining in Sahar Khad area under the Panchayat Sahar.
Parkash Singh and Raj Kumar who sat on chain hunger strike today said that they are demanding the cancelation of mining block of Sahar Khad which has been allotted earlier.
The Sarpanch Bholi Singh said that it is very unfortunate that without consent of Panchayat residents, the Geology and Mining Department allotted a Mining Block in Sahar Khad which will affect the environment. “We the villagers want to save the environment, water resources and green forest and natural resources, fauna and flora in Sahar Khad and its surrounding forest area . But the Department is mute spectator and did not bother to take action. He has appealed to LG Manoj Sinha to send a high level team to assess the ground situation for early redressal.
