SRINAGAR: Asserting that the Pampore attack in which eight security force personnel were killed was a fidayeen strike, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Director General K Durga Prasad today said that security forces are prepared to counter any further militant attacks.
However, he said it needs to be verified whether the attack was carried by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) or any other militant organisation. “If you look at the preparations made by the militants for this attack and the number of magazines and grenades they were carrying, it is clear that it was a fidayeen attack,” he said.
He said the militants were intercepted effectively, however, expressed disappointment that eight jawans were killed in the attack. “Even though LeT has claimed responsibility but we will still investigate to ascertain which militant organisation was behind the attack,” he added. (AGENCIES)
