PAK to enhance exports of IT services

ISLAMABAD, Dec 24: Pakistani Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Umar Saif said that his country has been taking steps to enhance exports of information technology (IT) services.
“Pakistan aims to increase IT exports to 10 billion U.S. dollars in the next three years. Our journey towards it is onwards and upwards,” the minister said on Saturday.
Several initiatives, including the establishment of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), were launched to enhance foreign investment in various sectors, including IT, and boost national growth, he said, adding that timely decisions taken by the SIFC are yielding remarkable results and paving the way to boost IT exports.
As a result of the government’s initiatives, Saif said Pakistani IT companies are beginning to bring their revenue back home, and the country’s export revenue jumped by 11 percent in November as compared to the same month of the previous year.

“The positive results are expected to attract more foreign investments, creating a ripple effect that will benefit the entire technology ecosystem,” the minister added.(UNI)
