Pak killing of Indian soldiers act of perfidy: IPSI

NEW DELHI, Aug 9:The Indian Chapter of the India-Pakistan Soldiers Initiative For Peace (IPSI), an India-Pak soldiers initiative for peace in both countries, today strongly condemned the dastardly act by Pakistan Army of violation of the Line of Control (LoC) and killing of five Indian soldiers well inside Indian territory, describing it an act of “perfidy” which deserved severest censure and condemnation.
“The Line of Control (LoC) is a mutually agreed and well recognised line which both sides are committed and bound to honour. Any violation of this line is an act of perfidy, which Pakistan Army has committed and deserves severest censure and condemnation,” the IPSI said in a strongly-worded statement here.
The IPSI is a peace initiative by retired Indian and Pakistani Army officers including Generals, to promote peace in both countries.
The statement said the IPSI is sincerely committed to cordial relations and friendship with Pakistan as it sincerely believed in the dividends in peace which should usher in prosperity and empowerment of people in both countries.
Maj Gen T K Kaul, Senior Executive Vice President of the IPSI, said in a statement that the IPSI had worked hard over the last few years to build bridges of understanding and trust for mutual benefit of both countries and shall continue to do so.
However, such “perfidious acts” of the Pakistan Army “muddies the whole atmosphere which sets the clock of peace in the reverse direction, which is most regrettable,” the statement said.
The IPSI expressed the hoped that people of goodwill and peaceful intent in Pakistan shall get together and prevent further damage to the fragile relationship between the two countries,
It also urged the Government of India not to relent in its’ intention /resolve to improve relations with Pakistan despite such grave provocations and said continuation of an “uninterrupted and an uninterruptable dialogue process” was the only option to follow the peace process. (UNI)
