Sir,
Quite unfortunate it is, to paint Yog, generally written and pronounced as “Yoga” with religious connotations in a country which gave to humanity this unique blend of physical, mental and spiritual bliss for thousands of years but went into oblivion as a result of foreign invasions and subjugation for centuries which tried to alter and attempt to erase most of what was basic, ancient and time tested in India. It is more unfortunate to see this tremendously human friendly concept and practice, getting mired into religious and political controversies even after the country getting political “freedom” and more so being partitioned in 1947. How long can this country still afford to get entangled into avoidable and overspent controversies on majority – minority “sensitivities” and “concerns” on almost every small or big event that was going to put this country on the high mat of international reckoning and importance? These “sensitivities” which practically appear to be invented rather than being there in reality, are also laced with vote bank politics, a fact which is contributing to retarding our progress and also weakening the most important fabric of “togetherness ” as one nation, a strong cohesive nation. How long can some political parties, a few being presently on “forced leave” continue to hunt for, if not prowl, such events which on blowing out of context, in their thinking, was going to pay them political dividends ?
Yours etc…
