CJ keeps traditions of communal harmony, amity aloft

SRINAGAR, July 29: M.M.Kumar, Chief Justice of the State High Court, keeping aloft the glorious and sublime traditions of communal amity and harmony, today opened doors of his residence, at Sonawar, near Ziarat Hazrat Sheikh Yaqoob, for female folk to offer Namaze Id-ul Fitr.
Right from morning females and children started thronging the residence of the Chief Justice and his residential lawns gave an appearance of riot of colours, as thousands of guests in their colourful dresses poured in to offer Namaz.
The Chief Justice along with his wife welcomed guests and greeted Eid Mubarak to all. There was profound sense of gaiety and vibrations of spiritual delight could be felt all around. The Chief Justice distributed sweets after the Namaz.
Wakaf Authorities and citizens deeply appreciated the noble gesture of the Chief Justice.

Pathania’s concern on ‘overmedulous’ attitude of ASI

MANWAL (UDHAMPUR), July 29: A general interaction of residents of Manwal locality was held here by R S Pathania, general secretary, J&K Pradesh Youth Congress where ‘overmedulous’ attitude of ASI authorities at Manwal was discussed threadbare.
Pathania said that ASI has been an utter failure, despite a voluble inflow of funds from Central Government, it has failed to develop Manwal as a state-of-art destination for tourists from across the globe. Also that no compensation has been paid by ASI for lands of local agriculturists and residents acquired since years.
Threatening a massive stir against the ASI authorities, Pathania has called for immediate remedial measures in order to plug over the rot.
Others present on the occasion included Bodh Raj, Mohan Lal, Dewan Singh, Raghubir Singh, Om Parkash, Jagmohan, Bikram Singh, (all Sarpanchs), Bishan Dass, Hem Raj Gupta, Makhan Lal, Vijay Kumar, Narain Dass, Karpal Singh etc.

Bhim Singh bereaved

Udhampur, July 29: Ex-Subedar Jagan Singh, elder brother of Prof.Bhim Singh, chief patron of National Panthers Party, paternal uncle of Harshdev Singh (MLA) and maternal uncle of Balwant Singh Mankotia (MLA) passed away this morning at Military Hospital, Udhampur due to cardiac arrest.
Jagan Singh a former Sarpanch of their ancestral village Chanotra was a senior notable in the village, the ancestral place of Chanotra dynasty which ruled Ramnagar principality some 170 years. Jagan Singh was two years senior to Prof.Bhim Singh.
Thousands of people participated in the last journey of Subedar Jagan Singh including Prof.Bhim Singh, Harshdev Singh, Mr Mankotia, Faqir Nath, ex-MLA, and several other office bearers of the Panthers Party and other political parties at Udhampur this afternoon.

Training programme on preparation of Dhew Pickle organized

JAMMU, July 29: Rainfed Research Sub Station for Sub Tropical Fruits (RRSS), Raya of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J), organised one-day training-cum-demonstration programme on preparation of Dhew Pickle for rural women and unemployed youth at Village Ranjan about 20 kilometres from here.
Organised under SERB DST, New Delhi, the programme was aimed at profitable utilization of Dhew fruit by making pickle on scientific lines to fetch better market price for this value added product.
About 60 rural farm women and unemployed youth from Ranjan village participated in the programme.
Dr Neeraj Gupta, principal investigator, SERB-DST project gave participants the details regarding the value addition of Dhew fruit in the rainfed areas of the Jammu region besides demonstration on making of pickle. The participants were apprised with the technique of value addition of Dhew fruit and its profitable economics.

Devotees donate residential properties to Bhagawan Ji

JAMMU, July 29: As a service to noble cause started by Bhagawaan Gopinath Ji, whose “message was service to mankind is service to God” some devotees of Bhagawaanji have donated residential property at Kharyar Srinagar in Kharyar running in crores of rupees to Bhagawaan Gopinathji Trust which is wedded to spreading the message of Bhagwaan Ji world-wide.
The devotees who donated their properties to the Trust included Prof M N Koul (Sahib), Rajinder Koul Sahib, Maharaj Krishan Koul, Kishen Koul, Mrs Chander Kanta Koul, Mrs Rama Koul and Hari Krishan Koul.
The devotees of Bhagawaan Ji in a meeting, while paying immense gratitude to these philanthropists said they have indeed done a great service to humanity and it will go a long way in spreading the Bhagawaan Ji’s message. Moreover, the residential properties donated by them adjacent to the Kharyar Ashsram premises of Bhagawaan Ji will also pave a way for extension of Ashram premises in Srinagar to accommodate the rush of pilgrims visiting there during the functions held from time to time.

Woman receives electric shock

SRINAGAR, July 29:  A woman was injured at upper bus stop main market Bandipora today after she received an electric shock.
Police said a woman, Naseema Begum wife of Mohammad Latief Gojjar resident of Gojjar Basti Sumlar, was injured after she received an electric shock at Upper bus stop main market Bandipora. The injured was shifted to District hospital Bandipora where from she was referred to SKIMS Soura, Srinagar for treatment. Bandipora police has registered a case in this regard.

PDP kickstarts campaign for Assembly elections

JAMMU, July 29: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) today kickedstart campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections by organizing a meeting of senior party leaders and Ward incharge of Jammu West Assembly segment.
Speaking on the occasion, PDP candidate for Jammu West Assembly seat, Daman Bhasin sought mandate of the people to vociferously raise their voice in the Assembly. Bhasin regretted that present regime headed by Omar Abdullah has failed to solve problems of the people.
He said that public is the worst victim of the wrong policies of the present Government, which has failed to take any step to minimize woes of citizens.
Daman asked the leaders and in-charge of the Wards to go into public and seek their support to get the people rid of present corrupt dispensation. He assured the gathering that PDP would formulate a comprehensive plan for the development and upliftment of Jammu West.

Army organizes ex-servicemen rally

UDHAMPUR, July 29: The Army’s Chushul Brigade under the aegis of Trishul Division organized an Ex-Servicemen rally at Tangtse village in Leh.
The rally was organized in an effort by the Army to reach out to the veterans, widows and their dependents residing in treacherous and rugged areas of Eastern Ladakh region.
This rally provided a single platform for resolving various issues of ex-servicemen regarding their pension, health care, banking and other welfare schemes.
Various helpdesks including those of Zila Sainik Welfare office, DPDO and SBI Bank and information boards were established to educate them and address their grievances.
During the rally a medical and dental checkup camp was also organized in which many veterans and their dependents were rendered medical assistance and provided free medicines.
The response and participation for the rally was overwhelming as it was attended by large number of veterans and their dependents.
During the rally, Brigadier JKS Virk, Commander of Chushul Brigade interacted with the veterans and their dependents and assured them of all the assistance to be provided by the Army in reaching out to them and resolving their issues and grievances on a regular basis.

Police installs 3 water coolers for public

POONCH, July 29: The district police installed three water coolers for the general public at Poonch, Surankote and Mendhar towns.
A police spokesman said that with the initiative of  SSP Poonch, Shamsheer Hussain water cooler was installed near Eidgah/ Bus Stand  at Poonch city, near Sub District Hospital at Surankote and another one at Main Chowk, Mendhar town the other day. The public has lauded the initiative of district police for this noble service.

Chain snatcher nabbed

JAMMU, July 29: A chain snatcher involved in theft of gold chain near Kunjwani Chowk was arrested by Gangyal police today.
As per police sources, on specific inputs, police team from Gangyal Police Station, arrested a burglar identified as Ashwani Kumar alias Sunny, son of Girdhari Lal, a resident of Tinda Khurd, Bishnah has been arrested by Gangyal police.
The accused was involved in chain snatching case at Kunjwani Chowk and was evading his arrest since long.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team headed by SHO Gangyal Police Station SI Noor Ahmed made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Gandhi Nagar Harjeet Singh and SP South Rahul Malik.
