JAMMU, Apr 17: District Police Ramban today distributed School uniforms and other items among school going children belonging to underprivileged / below poverty line families, under Civic Action Programme of Jammu and Kashmir Police at Govt Hr Secondary School Batote and adjoining Schools today.
The deserving students were named by School Committees.
Randeep Kumar, SSP Ramban, Arun Gupta, Additional SP Ramban, Narinder Singh Parihar, Dy.SP Hqrs Ramban, Vipan Chandren, Dy.SP Ops Gool, Inspr Mohd Iqbal SHO PS Batote and Inspr Sunil Arya SHO PS Gool distributed these items in the presence of ZEO Batote, School Principals and teachers of respective Schools.
It is pertinent to mention here that yesterday also some school children were provided uniforms and sports items in the School of Banihal Tehsil.

JAMMU, Apr 17: In connection with the celebrations of Bhagwan Shri Parshuram Jayanti, the Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha Jammu will take out an impressive Shobha Yatra on April 20 and perform mass Yagyopaveet of eligible Hindu boys on April 22.
This was informed by the Brahman Sabha president, Ved Parkash Sharma, while addressing a press conference, here today.
The Shobha Yatra will be taken out from the Brahman Sabha Chankya Chowk near Parade Ground at 2 pm and after passing through Moti Bazar, Pacca Danga, Jain Bazar, Purani Mandi, City Chowk, Kanak Mandi, Rajinder Bazar, Raghunath Bazar, Shalamar, it will culminate at the starting point, he elaborated.
Before the Shobha Yatra, Pooja of Bhagwan Shri Parshuram, Gayatri Mata and Saraswati Mata will be performed according to Vedic rituals and set principles of Sanatan Dharm, which will be followed by a grand Bhandara, Mr Sharma added.
On April 21, Mr Sharma said, free of cost Yagyopaveet ceremony of eligible Hindu boys will be performed for which the desiring persons may get their names registered in the Sabha office up to April 18.
Maintaining that all arrangements for the celebrations have been finalized, the Brahman Sabha president appealed all the socio-religious organizations and public at large to participate in the Shobha Yatra as well as other functions.
In the press conference, Ved Parkash Sharma was accompanied by Verinder Mohan Magotra, Sat Paul Sharma, Nanak Chand, M L Sharma, Dr Som Dutt Magotra, Satya Nand Sharma, Shiv Ram Sharma, Jagan Nath Sharma, Shiv Charan Dass, Surinder Sharma, Shri Kerni, Vijay Sharma, Girdhari Lal, Sat Pal, and others.

JAMMU, Apr 17: A passport mela is being held here on Saturday, the April 25, to facilitate more and more passport applicants.
All applicants are advised to visit website: www.passportindia.gov.in where appointments have already been released to accommodate such applicants. However, only certain categories of applicants shall be allowed to walk-in on the day of passport mela.
These categories are senior citizens, above 60 years of age; minors, whose both parents possess the valid passport; PCC applicants, possessing the requisite document required for the PCC and applicants whose files have earlier been kept on hold.

The show is going to be talecast on `Colour’ channel from April 18 at 9 p.m.

District Development Commissioner, Samba, Sheetal Nanda distributing dairy equipments and Mastitis Kits to farmers at Samba on Friday.
SAMBA, Apr 17: District Development Commissioner, Samba, Sheetal Nanda distributed dairy equipment and Mastitis Kits free of cost among the 80 (Eighty) farmers from different areas of District Samba under National Mission for Protein Supplement (NMPS) -Scheme III, at a function organized by Animal Husbandry Department today.
The basic objective of this scheme is to provide equipment and utensils to help the dairy farming in a hygienic way and also help in early detection of mastitis which is known to be very complex disease condition mainly because of multiple causative agents, poor understanding of the early immune response and complexities associate with mammary epithelial cell damage by both the agents and the host factors.
Ms. Nanda interacted with the farmers and stressed upon the officers of the Department to take concrete measures for extending the activities of dairy farming in the district, with special emphasis on “Kandi Belt” so as to enhance the milk production in the district. She also stressed upon the beneficiaries for judicious use of the material provided to them by the Department.
Among others, the Veterinary Assistant Surgeons and other staff of the Animal Husbandry Department were present on the occasion.

NEW DELHI, Apr 17: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) made the scathing attack on the Government at the Centre for giving complete leverage to the pro-Pak and separatist elements in Kashmir valley which has extremely demoralized nationalist forces of the State.
Kundan Kashmiri KPC Chief while speaking to his party activists here today stated that democracy has turned into mobocracy and majoritarianism has dominated rule of law in the Kashmir valley. He further said that some elements in Government, Geelani and other separatists are hand to glove with each other to disturb the Valley and weaken the relations of Kashmir with rest of India. He said Mufti has hidden agenda to accomplish, that is why he is encouraging the pro-Pak elements and separatist and giving them liberty to act as per their wishes and whims.
Kashmiri further stated that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is playing with dangerous game which will be disastrous for the national interests.
He demanded that under these circumstances BJP must forthwith snap its ties with PDP which will be in the greater interest of the nation.
He further reiterated his stand that KPs would return to Valley only at one consolidated place within the ambit of Indian constitution. Abrogation of Article 370, CBI probe for mass-exodus, white paper over militancy in the State and legal action and punishment to those who killed innocent Kashmiri Pandits during the turmoil, will be pre- condition for initiating dialogue with KP,s for return.

JODHPUR, Apr 18:
Bollywood actor Salman Khan has been directed to appear in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate here on April 23 for recording of his statements in the Arms Act case in connection with the 1998 blackbuck poaching incident.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Anupama Bijlani asked his counsel to ensure Khan’s presence in the court after the examination of four witnesses, associated with the FSL examination of the arms in question, was completed today.
“The examination of the four prosecution witnesses, which had started on April 13 was completed today and now Khan will have to appear in the court on April 23 for recording of his statements,” Khan’s counsel H M Saraswat said.
These four witnesses had been allowed to be called by the court on March 3, after it came up in the court that some pending applications moved by the then public prosecutor way back in 2006 were undecided. The court, which was on the verge of pronouncing the judgment in the case, then refused to proceed in the case and on plea of the prosecution, had allowed to summon and examine these witnesses. (PTI)

Giving away winner and runner up trophies to the champion wrestlers at the finals of Indian Style Wrestling Competition at Jhajjar Kotli this evening, Mr Rana said that sports have immense potential as a career and therefore talented ones should concentrate on their chosen games with avowed objective of achieving excellence.
Binia Bin of Jammu and Kashmir Police emerged as the champion in the event organized by Saloura Dangal Committee in conjunction with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the supervision of its Presidents Shiv Kumar Sharma and Rajinder Kumar.
“Of course cricket, soccer and hockey have overtaken other traditional games but wrestling is making comeback at the national and international levels”, he said adding that the Commonwealth Games have again acknowledged the relevance of wrestling as a premier sport and due impetus is given to its promotion. He urged the youth to come forward and show their talent on a bigger canvass.
Mr Rana exuded confidence that various tourneys, especially in the segment of wrestling, will provide an opportunity to the budding wrestlers to benefit from veterans and emulate various techniques, which will sharpen their talent. He said the sports persons of Nagrota Assembly Constituency will get all encouragement to showcase their talent in various state and national events.
The Provincial President complimented the participants and congratulated the winners for their excellent performance and hoped they will leave indelible mark at the national level as well.
While Binia Bin of JKP defeated Bhopinder Ajnala, there was tie between Sukha of Rajasthan and Kaka of R. S Pura.Laly Garh Shankar of Punjab defeated Farooq of Jammu.
