JAMMU, Nov 4: A car has been stolen from Maheshpura Chowk area.
As per police sources, a complaint was lodged by Arun Kumar Gupta, son of Kulbhushan, a resident of Rehari with Police Station Bakshi Nagar area regarding theft of his car from Maheshpura Chowk area.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 176/2020 under section 379 IPC has been registered at Bakshi Nagar Police Station and investigation started.

Shopian family stages protest along with dead body, alleges murder

Srinagar, Nov 4: A family from South Kashmir’s Shopian today held a protest along with the dead body of an elder person who had “died of cardiac arrest” during a land acquisition drive in Hermain village of the district yesterday.
The family members of the deceased emerged with the dead body in the Press Enclave here and alleged that the man did not die of cardiac arrest but was assaulted by some goons.
It is to be mentioned here that a land acquisition team had visited the area yesterday during which it was reported that some people resorted to stone-pelting and amid that the man Abdul Salam Thokar in his seventies died due to cardiac arrest.
However, the family is not ready to accept the circumstances of death that are being given out. They said: “He didn’t die of cardiac arrest but was assaulted by some goons on the behest of officials.”.
“We are not going to carry out his last rites till some action is taken against those who are responsible for his death,” the family said.
Meanwhile, District Administration Shopian clarified that the death of the elderly person has occured because of the cardiac arrest and is not connected to the events of Padderpora land issue.
The statement reads that some nefarious elements are trying to link the two events to advance their illegal case and the district administration denies the allegations in toto.
Abdul Salam Son, a relative of the encroachers and who was a long term heart patient suffering from Hypertension and was present in PHC Mohandpora in Kulgam district that day, passed away in the afternoon in the PHC and his dead body was later brought to DH Shopian in an ambulance for Postmortem.
Meanwhile, back in Padderpora, the encroachers escalated their violent resistance and started stone pelting on the team of officers following which they left the scene of the incidence to avoid any further violence. No levelling or encroachment destruction work could be undertaken by the team.
An FIR No.307/202 of 3-11-2020 u/s 452, 354, 506 & 427 of IPC was lodged in PS Shopian in connection with the stone pelting and violence undertaken by the encroachers.
Two KAS officers given addl charge

JAMMU, Nov 4: Government today assigned additional charge of the post of Sub-Registrar and Assistant Commissioner Revenue Jammu to two KAS officers.
“Rakesh Dubey, Assistant Commissioner General, Jammu shall hold the additional charge of the post of Sub-Registrar, Jammu, till further orders,” said an order issued today.
The order further stated that Jasmeet Singh, Assistant Commissioner (Nazool), Jammu shall hold the additional charge of the post of the Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Jammu, during the leave period of the officer.
The Government orders came as a consequence of grant of one month leave with respect from October 27, 2020 by the competent authority in favour of Vijay Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Jammu.
2 drug peddlers arrested

JAMMU, Nov 4: Jhajjar Kolti police arrested two drug peddlers along with 8.824 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Jhajjar Kotli Police Station laid a naka near Suketar and intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB12Q-7186.
During search of vehicle, police team recovered 8.824 kilograms poppy straw and arrested two persons, who were identified as Brij Kumar, son of Dharam Pal and Jaideep, son of Harmesh Lal, both residents of Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 190/2020 under section 8/15/25/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Jhajjar Kotli Police Station and started.
AIBCU condemns Govt order limiting retirement age to 48 yrs

JAMMU, Nov 4: All India Backward Classes Union (AIBCU) executive members in a meeting under the chairmanship of its president, Abdul Majid Malik condemned the Government for its order pertaining to limiting the retirement age of a Government employee to 48 years or 22 years of service.
AIBCU demanded revocation of the order for the welfare of employees and claimed that the Government cannot frame two rules for retirement of its employees.
Speakers in the meeting also claimed that the new proposed rule might be used only to settle scores.
They claimed that in the recent past some category officers who were promoted to higher ranks were demoted for no reasons only because they were from some categories.
AIBCU members asked the Government to implement apex court’s judgment of 1992 on Mandal report in view of the abrogation of Article 370.
Those who attended the meeting were Jia Lal Verma, S.C Verma, Jagdish Lal Verma, Gurmeet Singh, Dr Javed Ahmed Teli, Sohan Lal, Rafiq Ahanger and others.
2 Inspectors among 8 transferred

JAMMU, Nov 4: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shridhar Patil has ordered transfer of 8 police officers including 2 Inspectors.
According to the order, Inspector Rajeshwar Singh has been transferred from Police Station City to DPL Jammu, while Inspector Joginder Singh has been transferred from DPL Jammu and posted as SHO Police Station City.
SI Ranjeet Singh has been transferred from Police Post Canal to DPL Jammu, SI Ravinder Singh from DPL Jammu to Incharge Police Post Canal, SI Sudesh Kumar from Police Post Jourian to Police Station Janipur as IO, SI Kunal Singh Jamwal from DPL Jammu to Incharge Police Post Jourian, ASI Bahari Lal from BPP Jogwan to DPL Jammu and ASI Joginder Singh from Police Post Panjtirthi to Incharge BPP Jogwan.
DFSS holds anti-Pak protest

JAMMU, Nov 4: The workers of Dogra Front & Shiv Sena (DFSS) under the leadership of their president Ashok Gupta held a protest demonstration against Pakistan for his involvement in Pulwama attack in which our CRPF Jawans were martyred.
Gupta said that Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had in an important meeting admitted their country’s involvement in Pulwama attack.
He said that the FATF had recently extended Pakistan’s grey listing after it failed to take action against terrorists and their groups targeting India. The official admission will further hamper Pakistan’s chances of getting out of FATF’s ‘Grey List’ and may also be put in the ‘Black List’, he added.
“Pakistan has admitted its hand behind Pulwama terror attack. Now all those people or political party’s who talked of conspiracy theories must apologize to the country,” he said and asked the politicians who had termed the Pulwama attack as a match fixing between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Imran Khan, to apologize to the country.
Take decision on objections for delimitation of DDC constituencies: HC

JAMMU, Nov 4: High Court has directed the Government to consider and take decision on the objections/suggestions relating to delimitation of territorial constituencies of District Development Council.
The order has been passed in a petition filed by Javed Iqbal seeking direction to the respondent authority to consider and decide the objections/suggestions dated 23.10.2020 to the notification dated 19.10.2020 submitted with respect to the delimitation of the territorial constituencies in Rajouri, limited to Block Budhal Old and its adjoining areas, as well as the objections to the notification dated 27.10.2020 as the same are within time.
After hearing Advocate Vikarma Sharma appearing for the petitioner, Justice Tashi Rabstan disposed of petition with a direction to the respondent authority to consider and decide the objections/suggestion for delimitation of territorial constituencies of DDC if there is no legal impediment within a period of ten days.
PDP dissolves Nowshera unit

“On the approval of party president, Mehbooba Mufti, the party zonal unit of Nowshera is hereby dissolved”, party general secretary and former legislator Surinder Choudhary said.
Train service, chartered buses for Katra demanded

KATRA: Nov 4: Shiv Kumar Sharma, former president, Hotel and Restaurant Association, Katra on behalf of business community of Katra has appealed to Lt.Governor, Manoj Sinha of J&K UT for deployment of trains and charted buses to the holy town of Katra for enhancing the yatra flow to Mata Vaishno Devi Temple as limit of 15000 yatries a day has been enhanced but yatra flow at present is very low due to lack of transport facilities.
In a statement issued here, today Sharma said that likewise earlier experience Yatra flow to the holy town increases after Diwali every year and the same is also expected this year, but it is possible only, if trains and inter State charted buses are permitted so that yatries interested to visit the holy shrine get proper transport facilities.
Katra Business community also conveyed its gratitude to the LG of J&K for acceding to their demand for increasing yatra flow up to 15000 a day said Shiv Kumar Sharma.
Meanwhile, social activist Shamsher Singh Bhandari has also complimented the Government for increasing the daily yatra to holy shrine upto 15,000. He demanded that the efforts be made to increase the pilgrims visiting to other shrines of Jammu region including Sukhrala Mata in Billawar, Chechi Mata in Samba, Sarthal Mata in Kishtwar district and other shrines besides ensuring proper transport facilities to these shrines.
Bhandari supported the demand of plying of trains and chartered buses to holy town of Katra for proper transportation of pilgrims saying the flow of pilgrims will likely increase after the Diwali festival as has been a precedence.
