JAMMU, Oct 22: The second edition of the book “Biography of Bal Brahmcharya Swami Nand Lal Ji” was released at Swami Kral Bab Ashram, Bantalab, near here, today, at a very impressive function organized by S K Koul, (retd) Excise Commissioner, A K Koul (retd). Session Judge, Surrinder Ambardar ex-MLC, Virender Bhatt senior advocate J&K High Court.
The book has been authored and co-authored by K N Bhatt Adv and Bansi Lal Pandita, president Swami Kral Bab Ashram Trust. The book release event started with the Guru Astuti.
The introductory address was delivered by S L Bhatt followed by welcome address by Bansi Lal Pandita, president Swami Kral Bab Ashram Trust.
Speaking on the occasion S K Koul, A K Koul, Surrinder Ambardar and Virender Bhatt highlighted the spiritual stature of Swami Ji, his immense contribution in the propagation of Sanatan Dharma, austerity, values in the society and alleviating the miseries of the devotees and the common people by his mystic powers.
On the occasion the speakers also highlighted the spiritual stature of the disciples of Swami Ji that is Swami VibheshanJi, Swami Kral Bab Ji, Swami Mast Ram Ji, Swami Boi Tothu and Swami Sed Bab Ji who had and who continued the spiritual legacy of Swami Nand Lal Ji.
Maharaj Krishan Dhar , general secretary, SKBA Trust , Rattan Lal Dhar and Bansi Lal Pandita, president SKBA Trust also spoke on the occasion and threw light on the spiritual life of Swami Nand Lal Ji and his long association with Sharda Shrine now in Pak occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Divisional Level Committee sanctions subsidy cases

JAMMU Oct 22: Director Industries & Commerce, Jammu, Anoo Malhotra, roday chaired Divisional Level Committee meeting of Jammu district for sanctioning of subsidy cases under the State Package of Incentives.
The agenda of the meeting for the Jammu District was presented by Subah Mehta, General Manager, DIC Jammu [Member Secretary) for the approval of 100% DG Set Subsidy and 15% Capital Investment Subsidy (Prestigious Unit) cases by the committee.
The agenda was discussed threadbare by the committee members comprising of Dr. Tabassum, Chief Accounts Officer and Manisha Gupta (Dy. Director) P&S of Directorate of Industries & Commerce, Jammu.
The meeting was also attended by the Functional Manager of Directorate of Industries & Commerce, Shahzada Noor Ul Ain, and Project Manager, DIC, Jammu, Nazia Chowdhary.
The Committee approved two cases pertaining to D.G Set Subsidy and Capital Investment Subsidy amounting to Rs. 45.73 lakh of Jammu District.
Earlier in a meeting of District Level Committee of Jammu District held the other day, one 100% D.G Set Subsidy case amounting to Rs 4.59 lakh was also approved.
The Chairperson DLC stressed upon clearing all pending cases under the State Package of Incentives. The Chairperson directed for conducting the DLC meetings on regular intervals to clear the pendencies at DIC level so that the benefits of subsidies can be availed by the unit holders.

Sahai appointed PHDCCI Jammu chairman

JAMMU, Oct 22: Sanjay Aggarwal, president PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PHDCCI) New Delhi has appointed Rahul Sahai as chairman of Jammu chapter.
Rahul Sahai is son of late Ram Sahai, the visionary business icon of J&K and the force behind setting up National Chamber PHDCCI foot in the J&K. Rahul Sahai, the most successful young entrepreneur of Jammu and Kashmir, presently heads the Sahai Group of Companies in region employing big human resource in the Jammu region.
He is also a well known social worker who has been associated with PHD Chamber for many years and was serving as co-chairman of PHDCCI. He has also served as past chairman CII – J&K and is presently serving as chairman of “Transport Nagar Association besides executive member in various associations like J&K Institute of Public Opinion, Tax Payers Association, J&K Chamber of Industries & Commerce Co-operative Ltd and Association of Small Scale Industries Jammu.

Two Govt officials suspended

JAMMU, Oct 22: Two Government Officials including a Senior Assistant and a Basic Health Worker, attached in General Administration Department (GAD) have been suspended following registration of an FIR against them in Anti Corruption Bureau.
“Pending enquiry into their conduct, Sheikh Javid, Senior Assistant of the J&K Secretariat (Subordinate) Service, then posted in Gazetted Section of Health and Medical Education Department (now attached in GAD) and Sudesh Kumar, Basic Health Worker, Directorate of Health Services, Jammu, then Class IV employee, Legal Section, Health and Medical Education Department (now attached in GAD), are hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect in terms of Rule 31 of Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956,” said a Government order issued today.

ACB arrests Bhatti, lodges FIR against SMC X-En

JAMMU, Oct 22: Anti Corruption Bureau today arrested one Zaheer Abbas Bhatti, son of Muneer Hussain, of Narwal Bala, Bathindi, Jammu, who is working as Director of Social Welfare of India (an NGO), in a fraud case.
An official spokesman said that a case FIR No.12/2020 U/S 5 (1) (C), 5 (1) (d), 5 (2) PC Act-2006 and 120 RPC of ACB Srinagar Branch pertaining to the allegations of fraud, corruption and embezzlement of public money in Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan Scheme, has been registered against Bhatti and his associates.
He said earlier, a joint surprise check was conducted by ACB to look into the above allegations against an NGO namely M/s Social Welfare India and officers/officials of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) pertaining to the construction of Individual House Hold Latrines (IHHL) units under Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM Scheme).
It was established that vide an agreement, 218 IHHL (@ Rs 17490/ IHHL) and 9 twin storage pits (@ Rs 12,000/Twin Storage Pit) were to be constructed by the above mentioned NGO and citing the work done, the said NGO submitted a completion certificate in respect of aforesaid constructions appending therein the list of beneficiaries.
The Commissioner SMC got the matter verified through engineering wing of SMC comprising the then X-En, JE and submitted physical verification report to the Commissioner that the said IHHL and twin storage pits have been constructed as per SBM/SMC guidelines, subsequent to which an amount of Rs 38,81,612 was released in favour said NGO.
It came to fore during probe that not a single unit has been constructed by the said NGO and Engineering wing of SMC submitted false completion/verification report to higher-ups facilitating release of huge amount of money in favour of the NGO against the non-existing works. The officers/officials of SMC in league with the NGO by sheer abuse of their official positions and for their own pecuniary benefits submitted false completion/verifications report thereby facilitating the release of Rs 38,81,612 thereby, causing huge loss to UT exchequer and undue benefits upon the said NGO and themselves.
Accordingly case FIR No.12/2020 was registered in ACB Srinagar Branch against the officers/officials of SMC which included then Executive Engineer SMC namely- Maroof Ahmad, then Junior Engineer SMC namely Javaid Iqbal Shah, and office bearers of said NGO viz Zaheer Abbas Bhatti (Director M/s Social Welfare of India-NGO) and Ishrat Ashraf Shah, (General Secretary M/s Social Welfare of India-NGO). The investigation of the case is in progress.

Dr Karan Singh chairs web lecture on Maharaja Gulab Singh

JAMMU, Oct 22: In connection with the 228th birth anniversary of Maharaja Gulab Singh, a web lecture was organized by the Maharaja Gulab Singh Research Centre here.
The lecture started with a welcome note by Prof Suman Jamwal, followed by a note on the activities undertaken by the Centre by Sushma J. Barnawal. Brig J S Rajput dwelt upon the aims and agenda of Research Centre and how Maharaja Gulab Singh Trust has played an active role in its creation.
Dr Karan Singh, Chairman Trustee, Maharaja Gulab Singh Memorial Trust presided over the programme. While speaking on the occasion, Dr Singh underlined the necessity of revisiting the life and time of Maharaja Gulab Singh, the founder of Royal Dogra dynasty and first Maharaja of the Princely State of Jammu and Kashmir and the second largest princely state in British India. He regretted that the historians have not given the place, that he deserves in history of India.
Dr Singh further added that Maharaja Gulab Singh was a multi-faceted personality and they all need to be brought into the centre stage of the academic and research. In this context, he particularly emphasized his role in Ladakh and the nature of relationship that he developed with the peripheral region such as Humza, Gilgit- Baltistan etc.
Harbans Singh, an eminent scholar, who has immensely contributed to our understanding of the history of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir , was the key speaker, who briefed on Maharaja Gulab Singh and the making of the State of Jammu and Kashmir. In this context , he pointed out, how he reached the Lahore Darbar and grabbed place in Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s Army and soon became the Commander of the Dogra Cavalry contingent. Singh said this Dogra warrior distinguished himself in several campaigns, including the conquest of Multan in 1816 and also led an independent campaign in 1816 to conquer the hill town of Reasi. Because of the sterling services that he rendered to Lahore Darbar, Gulab Singh was confirmed as Raja of Jammu by Maharaja Ranjit Singh.
“Soon after the death of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the Lahore Darbar became a centre of conspiracies. However, Maharaja Gulab Singh came out of the crisis and soon became the Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir. Gulab Singh’s Trans-Himalayan conquests pushed the boundaries of this state upto Tibbet Xinjiang,” Singh said.
The web lecture was attended by the members of Academic fraternity of the University of Jammu , Research Scholars, students, members of civil society including, Maj Gen G S Jamwal, Gulchain Singh Charak, Mubarak Singh and others. It was hosted by Prof SN Lal, HOD History, University of Jammu.

ASCOMS becomes 1st hospital in J&K to have installed smoke evacuators in OTs

JAMMU, Oct 22: The Operation Theatres (OTs) of Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences (ASCOMS) & Hospital can be considered as the best in class as it became the first one in the Union Territory of J&K to have installed smoke evacuators in its operation theatres (OTs).
It has also bought the new Anaesthesia Work Station with inbuilt Anaesthesia Gas monitoring and scavenging system. With this new addition, the operation theatres of ASCOMS have become safe for both the healthcare providers as well as the patients as the smoke originating in the operation theatres from the tissue is noxious and harmful to anyone who inhales it pose a potential risk of infection to hospital staff working in OT.
More than 150 different chemical constituents have been identified in the surgical smoke that can cause both acute and chronic health hazards. Evacuator can capture the smoke generated and Anaesthesia machine can scavenge the harmful gases arising from the Anaesthesia procedure so there is removal of smoke as well as the gases from the working area of theatre.
The Smoke Evacuator has a ULPA Filter which captures and filters 99.99% particulates and microorganisms greater than 120 nanometer. The ASCOMS hereby becomes the leader in providing safe surgical environment to the patients as well as to the healthcare working team and is fully equipped and geared up for performing surgeries.
Giving details of the theatre machinery, Dr Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal along with Dr K S Mehta, Prof & Head Department of Surgery and Dr Nandita Mehtal, Prof & Head Department of Anaesthesia, expressed satisfaction on the installation of new machinery and the negative pressure system in the operation theatres for providing safe surgical working environment.
D K Batra, Joint Secretary, told that the management has purely gone by the suggestions of the working OT team of ASCOMS Hospital and approved the recommendations for providing utmost safe working conditions.

4 GMC faculty members placed on higher posts

SRINAGAR, Oct 22: Government today accorded sanction to placement of four faculty members of Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar on higher posts in their own pay and grade, for a period of six months or till the posts are filled-up on regular basis, whichever is earlier.
According to the order, Dr Adil Hassan Siddiqie (Assistant Professor, Pathology) has been placed on the post of Associate Professor while Dr Nissar Hussain Hamdani (Lecturer, Surgical Gastroenterology), Dr Muddasar Hassan Rather (Lecturer, Surgical Gastroenterology) and Dr Aalia Rasool Sufi (Lecturer, Ophthalmology) have been placed as Assistant Professors.

Prof Mushtaq is acting VC SKUAST-K

Srinagar, Oct 22: The Lieutenant Governor’s administration has directed Director Extension Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Kashmir Professor Mushtaq Ahmad to perform the routine duties of Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-K after the retirement of the Vice Chancellor.
The LG administration in its order issued today said that Professor Mushtaq Ahmad, Director Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir shall perform the routine duties of the Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST- Kashmir till further orders.
Prof Nazeer Ahmad, who was the Vice-Chancellor of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology, Kashmir completed his tenure today.
“Prof. (Dr.) Nazeer Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology Kashmir shall be completing his tenure today. A Selection Committee for drawing up a panel of names for appointment to the post of Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Kashmir has been constituted and the process would take some time to conclude,” the order read.
The order, issued by Additional Secretary further read: “In this context, I am desired to convey the approval of Lieutenant Governor (Chancellor, SKUAST-Kashmir) that Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad, Director Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir shall perform the routine duties of the Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST- Kashmir till further orders.”
The VC made several transfers of mostly scientists recently at the time when his term was expiring. The SSTA alleged that these transfers were made by the VC to target the members of the association who are raising genuine issues.
