JAMMU, Dec 20: BJP J&K Executive Member, Raman Suri today said that the way the leaders of People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) are behaving and are boycotting the Delimitation Commission or showing disrespect to it by undermining its credentials, speaks of the fact that it is a divided house that has no respect for democratic institutions.
Referring to NC’s participation in Delimitation Commission meeting without any agenda and then PDP chief, Mehbooba Mufti’s criticism of the institution, Suri said, this is how these political leaders have been making conflicting statements to mislead masses for vested interests.
“Delimitation Commission is an independent institution working after meeting all the stakeholders in J&K but allegations of PDP that it is working on an agenda speaks of PDP’s mental bankruptcy,” he maintained.
The BJP leader also said that members of Delimitation Commission not only met the regional leaders but also held consultations with national political parties and even civil society groups and administrators to ensure complete transparency in its functioning before giving its report. It is only after this report that elections will be held in J&K.
He said that those flaying the Delimitation Commission are challenging the autonomous status of these institutions and undermining democracy.
