JAMMU, July 14: Expressing strong resentment over failure of the State Government to provide security to them in the Kashmir valley, hundreds of PM package employees and employees who were appointed in Valley in 2007 and 2008 held a strong protest demonstration here, today.
Raising slogans, Kashmiri Pandit employees, appointed in the Valley in various State Government departments under Prime Minister special job package and in the general category, this morning protested outside the office of the Relief Commissioner here and demanded their adjustment in migrant cells and Central Government departments outside Valley.
The protestors demanded immediate adjustment of all the employees of Hindu minority community in various migrant cells in Jammu or Central Government offices outside Valley as under prevailing circumstances they are unable to work in Kashmir where under a pre planned conspiracy the migrant camps at Haal Pulwama, Vessu and Mattan in Anantnag districts were targeted by violent mob.
Alleging that the attack on the migrant camps was a part of a big conspiracy, the protesting employees said they feel humiliated and harassed during last five years after they joined Government services in Kashmir.
The protesting employees submitted a memorandum to Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, R K Pandita highlighting the reasons due to which they have been forced to leave Valley. The memorandum said that the Pandit employees are unable to work in Valley under prevailing situation when radical forces rule roost there posing a threat to the life and liberty of minorities.
The memorandum also alleged that the State administration has totally failed to provide security to the migrant employees in Valley and Government should ensure that the jobs and salary of these employees is not affected in any way. They also demanded that the employees presently putting up in various camps in Kashmir be evacuated to Jammu safely as their parents and other relatives are concerned for their safety.
Terming the attacks on migrant camps were well organised, the protesting employees said that the forces who were behind this game plan created 1989-90 type situation in Valley when mass exodus of minority Hindus took place.
The protesting employees said that the situation is grave in Valley and under these circumstances they can’t go 10 to 12 kilometres away from their camp to serve in the school or any other Government office. The Government has taken a bond from us not to leave the Valley at any cost but will the Government give us the bond that it is totally responsible for our safety and security, they added.
They said the Centre should take steps and bring the employees back to Jammu and adjust them in Central Government departments till total normalcy is restored in Valley.
Later, Relief Commissioner R K Pandita told reporters that he will forward the memorandum to higher ups in the Government for consideration. He said he was in touch with respective DCs and they informed him that adequate steps were taken to provide security to migrant employees putting up in various camps in Kashmir.
