“The BJP is getting exceptional support in Budgam,” he said. “Agha Mohsin is a person who understands the pain of the people. The support we are getting is overwhelming,” he added.
Referring to the party’s earlier performance, he said, “From Shopian, our candidate in 2014 secured around 7,000 votes, and at the same time, Rafiq Wani from Anantnag also got a good response.”
Raina stressed that the lotus is going to bloom again.
He said people in Kashmir have affection for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, crediting him for peace and development in J&K.
“People of Kashmir have love for PM Modi. He has ensured welfare schemes for the poor. There is peace in Kashmir, and it is because of him,” he said.
Urging voters to back his party, the BJP leader added, “people of Budgam have seen the times of the National Conference. We appeal to them to support the BJP, and they will see how their issues will be addressed.”
On the restoration of statehood, Raina said the matter would be decided at the national level at the appropriate time.
“The Prime Minister and the Home Minister have already spoken about it. The decision will be taken at the appropriate time,” he said.
“But the peace and security people feel today are because of the work done by the BJP and PM Modi,” he further said.
Referring to NC leader Aga Ruhullah, Raina said that he is a big leader, and “we respect him.”
“But it is strange that an NC minister from Budgam doesn’t respect such a tall leader. If they don’t respect their own leaders, how will they respect the people of Budgam?”, he asked.
Raina added that the National Conference “has realised that Budgam is going to be a tough contest for them.”
