Police organises Jammu Marathon ‘Run for Unity’

JAMMU, Dec 28: The Jammu and Kashmir Police today organised the “Run for Unity” Jammu Marathon-2025 at Gulshan Ground, Jammu, under its Civic Action Programme, witnessing enthusiastic participation from across age groups.
Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters), MK Sinha, the chief guest, emphasised the importance of sports in fostering physical fitness, mental well-being, discipline and unity among youth. He said such initiatives help nurture sporting talent and promote a healthy and positive lifestyle. Over 8,000 participants, including men, women, children and senior citizens aged between 8 and 80 years, took part in the event. The marathon was flagged off at 7.30 am and passed through major city routes before culminating at Gulshan Ground.
In the 21 km Half Marathon (Men), Manjit Singh of Ferozpur, Punjab secured first place and won Rs 50,000, followed by Kailash Chaudhary of Bharatpur, Rajasthan (Rs 30,000) and Neeraj of Panipat, Haryana (Rs 20,000).
In the 10 km Run (Under-18 Boys), Mohan of Charkhi Dadri, Haryana clinched first place (Rs 25,000), Ravi Choudhary of Muzaffarnagar, UP stood second (Rs 15,000), while Sagar Malik of Shamli, UP secured third (Rs 10,000).
The 10 km Run (Women above 18 Years) was won by Rubi Kashyap of Rohana Khurd, UP (Rs 25,000), followed by Anjali of Uttarakhand (Rs 15,000) and Veerpal Kour of Faridkot, Punjab (Rs 10,000).
In the 10 km Junior Girls (Under 18) category, Gargi of Sikanderpur, UP secured first place (Rs 25,000), Archana of Bandpur, UP second (Rs 15,000) and Himanishi of Shamli, UP third (Rs 10,000).
The 10 km Junior Boys (Under 18) event saw Ankit of Bharatpur, Rajasthan winning first prize (Rs 25,000), John of Jalandhar, Punjab second (Rs 15,000) and Adarsit Bamila of Rajouri third (Rs 10,000).
In the Veteran Women (Above 45 Years) category, Neha of Uttarakhand won Rs 25,000, Manminder Kour of Jammu received Rs 15,000 and Tinasahi of J&K got Rs 10,000. The Veteran Men (Above 45 Years) category was won by Jagga Singh of Punjab (Rs 25,000), followed by Mangat Singh of Jammu (Rs 15,000) and Sunderpaul of Haryana (Rs 10,000).
In the 5 km Sub-Junior Boys (Under 14) race, Vinit of Muzaffarnagar, UP secured first place (Rs 15,000), followed by Parul Kumar of Bishnah, Jammu (Rs 10,000), Ronak Kumar of Shamli, UP (Rs 5,000), Summer Choudhary of Sohanjana, Jammu (Rs 3,000) and Tyaib Kabir of Kurhad, Rajouri (Rs 2,000).
The 4 km Sub-Junior Girls (Under 14) category was won by Sneh of Meerut (Rs 15,000), followed by Taniya Dhama of Meerut (Rs 10,000), Radhika Gupta of Kishtwar (Rs 5,000), Irtiza Ishfaq of Baramulla (Rs 3,000) and Aleena Singh of Jammu (Rs 2,000).
Special honours were given to Hurmat Jahan (3 years) and Aarnaw Bandral (3 years) as the youngest participants, while Uttama Punjabi (64 years) and Wolfhard Goetzie (81 years) were recognised as the oldest participants. Winners were awarded cash prizes, certificates, medals and T-shirts, and a raffle draw was also held in which three bicycles were distributed.
