Over 51 grams heroin-like-substance recovered in Kathua, two held

KATHUA, June 17: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kathua claimed to have recovered over 51 grams of heroin-like-substance and arrested two persons, including a juvenile, in the Phalote area under the jurisdiction of Police Post Nagri Parole.
Acting on a tip-off, a special naka was laid at Phalote on June 16 by a police team led by PSI Shuwam Sharma, under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Kathua Ravinder Singh and SHO Police Station Kathua Inspector Sandeep Chib, a police official said.
During checking, he said, the team intercepted two suspects coming from Punjab and recovered 51.06 grams of heroin-like-substance from their possession.
He identified the accused as Harpreet Singh of Bathal Bhaike, Tehsil Taran Taran, Punjab, and a juvenile (name withheld).
“Both were taken into custody on the spot,” claimed the police official.
He further said that police have registered a case under FIR number 304/2025 at Police Station Kathua under relevant sections of the NDPS Act against the accused and started further investigation into the matter.
