Over 5 lakh beneficiaries identified in fresh PMAY-G survey across J&K: Govt

SRINAGAR, Apr 2: The Government today said that more than 502,930 potentially eligible beneficiaries have been identified through a fresh survey under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), aimed at covering houseless and landless families left out of earlier exercises.
The information was provided in a written reply to a question by MLA Waheed Ur Rehman Para in the Assembly. The Government said the exercise is being conducted across all 20 districts of the Union Territory using the Awaas+ 2024 mobile application under PMAY (C) 2.0.
It said district-wise identification and verification are being carried out to ensure the inclusion of beneficiaries omitted from previous surveys. Households are being scrutinised at the district and block levels, while land is being facilitated for landless families in coordination with the Revenue Department, in line with scheme guidelines. Regular monitoring and review meetings are also being held at the Union Territory, district, and block levels to ensure adherence to timelines prescribed by the Ministry of Rural Development.
According to official data, Anantnag accounts for 11,035 cases, Budgam 2,211, Bandipora 4,474, Baramulla 5,985, Doda 30,412, Ganderbal 3,019, Jammu 13,738, Kathua 23,337, Kishtwar 16,209, Kulgam 5,867, Kupwara 10,896, Poonch 49,260, Pulwama 2,612, Rajouri 621, Ramban 81, Reasi 35,419, Samba 29,646, Shopian 2,637, and Srinagar 2,472.
The data also includes cases where land has been allotted by revenue authorities for PMAY-G construction. These include Anantnag (31 cases), Budgam (0), Bandipora (114), Baramulla (55), Doda (62), Ganderbal (9), Jammu (38), Kathua (23), Kishtwar (55), Kulgam (9), Kupwara (4), Poonch (6), Pulwama (11), Rajouri (48), Ramban (0), Reasi (7), Samba (21), Shopian (0), and Srinagar (1).
The Government said the ongoing exercise is intended to ensure “universal coverage” under PMAY-G in Jammu and Kashmir, with a focus on identifying all eligible houseless and landless families left out of earlier phases, verifying eligibility through multi-level scrutiny, and ensuring timely provision of housing assistance and land support where required.
