JAMMU, Jul 29: As the holy Amarnath yatra reaches its last leg with only four days remaining to final darshan of 39 day long yatra, which started on June 25, the rush of pilgrims visiting holy cave has come down considerably with 3,332 yatris performing darshan in holy cave today.
According to an official spokesman the smallest group of 706 pilgrims left for holy cave from Nunwan-Pahalgam base camp via traditional Chandanwari track while 1915 pilgrims left from 16 kilometre shortest Baltal track.
With 3,332 pilgrims performing darshan today the total number of pilgrims visiting holy cave in last 35 days of yatra has reached 6,11,072, he said, adding 6.07 lakh people have performed darshan in the cave shrine till late last night.
He said the pilgrims who left via Baltal returned to base camp after paying obeisance in holy cave at an altitude of 3,888 meters in Lidder Valley of Anantnag district in South Kashmir while those who left from Chandanwari track after a night halt at Sheshnag and Panchtarni will perform darshan tomorrow or day after tomorrow, he added.
The weather in yatra area was pleasant for entire day, he said.
However according to a Met Department, the sky will remain cloudy and there could be rain or thundershowers during the next 24 hours on both Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam tracks.
The official spokesman said those yatris, who had night stay at different halting stations enroute, also started their onward journey this morning while those who had darshan, also started their return journey.
Majority of those who had darshan of the Shivlingam have returned to their homes.
The Charri Mubarak of holy mace of Lord Shiva which reached Pahalgam from Dashnami Akhara Srinagar yesterday will leave for Chandanwari tomorrow morning.
Amid tight security, a fresh batch of 377 pilgrims today left for the Amarnath cave shrine.
The devotees comprising 239 men, 87 women, 1 child and 50 sadhus left in a cavalcade of 12 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu at around 0500 hours.
With today’s batch, as many as 91,820 pilgrims have left Jammu for their onward journey to Amarnath.
So far over 6.07 lakh pilgrims have performed darshan at cave shrine officials said.
