Outreach Programme on Income Tax awareness organized at Leh

LEH, Dec 6: Aimed to raise awareness on Income Tax and Tax Deducted at Source, an Outreach Programme organized by the I-Tax Department, Leh was held here today.
The programme was led by J S Kahlon, Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS)-1 Chandigarh along with Priyanka Singla, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Range TDS Ludhiana and Gulzar Ahmed, Income Tax Officer (TDS), Srinagar.
During the programme, a detailed presentation was made on correction statement, new tax provisions and Traces Portal (the main portal of TDS). An online demonstration of TRACES portal was also given to all participants.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS) Chandigarh, J S Kahlon said that this outreach programme is one of the initiatives of the Government of India to raise awareness about Income Tax.
“The aim of this programme is to sensitize the DDOs about Income Tax, Correction Statement, New Tax Provisions and other related concerns,” he said.
Further, he also stated that there was no awareness about the Traces Portal, which is the main portal of TDS and an online demonstration was conducted as part of the outreach programme, which will further benefit the DDOs.
“The contact numbers were shared to address queries in the future through online or phone calls. If there are queries that need to be physically addressed, then the department is ready to come again and resolve the concerns in future,” he added.
The programme followed with an interactive session where participants and stakeholders raised their issues and concerns related to Tax Deduction, Income Tax and other related issues.
Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs), Accounts Officers, Assistant Accounts Officers, Accountants, Accounts Assistants and others from various departments and organizations attended the programme.
