AO Trauma imparts skills

JAMMU, Oct 12: The Orthopedic Department of the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu today decided to have uniform policy of treatment with national standards and for the purpose briefed entire faculty, Post Graduates and other concerned.
“There will be no two opinions on the treatment, which prompted the patients to move out. There will be one line of treatment and all patients will be treated in the Government Medical College Jammu,” HoD Orthopedics, Dr Sanjeev Gupta said during his address to a one-day Trauma Course organized under the aegis of AO Trauma India by the Post Graduate Department of Orthopedics GMC Jammu.
Dr Gupta said the patients will be briefed on the accurate line of treatment on their admission. The treatment will be done on the same line so that there was no confusion among the patients, he added.
The course was aimed at imparting knowledge and clinical skills to 50 young Orthopedic surgeons. The course featured lectures by senior faculty, practical in bone demonstration on various methods of fixation of fractures and sessions between the trainers and trainees. The course will help the young Orthopedicians to diagnose, plan management of trauma patients and provide better patient care.
Established in 1958 in Switzerland, AO Trauma is world’s largest international community of trauma and Orthopedic surgeons, musculoskeletal researchers and operating room personnel dedicated to delivering knowledge, experience and evidence to improve patient care and outcomes in the field of musculoskeletal trauma.
The star studded faculty for AO introductory course were Dr Harpal Singh Sethi (DMC Ludhiana), Dr. Shekhar Singhal (DMC Ludhiana), Dr Sandeep Gupta (GMC Chandigarh), Dr Sanjeev Gupta (Head Orthopedics Department GMC Jammu), Dr Abdul Ghani (GMC Jammu), Dr Siddharth Sharma (PGIMER), Dr Lovi Padha (Jammu), Dr. Rajesh Gupta (ASCOMS Jammu), Dr Siddharth Sharma (PGIMER), Dr. Bias Dev (GMC Jammu), and Dr Farooq Butt (GMC Jammu).
