Sir,
Long pending demand for OROP was ultimately agreed to by the Govt. It was expected that the ex-servicemen would feel satisfied as such a bold decision which no Govt hithertofore could muster courage to announce has been taken. But dissatisfaction never ends when the entire world stands wrapped in thick sheet of materialism. The Govt’s decision to appoint a committee for removal of anomalies is another step of welfarism. Undeniably, the service of the nation, and particularly, the sacrifices of soldiers remain unforgetful, yet returning of the awards/medals by the ex-servicemen doesn’t sound good. When thousands and thousands people sleep empty stomach, remain half naked under the sky, realising financial constraints the Govt faces, is the duty of every citizen.
The Govt claims to have fulfilled all major demands in the OROP scheme and promises for rectification of any irregularity in its implementation, any further agitation may not be justified. The Govt in its own, without wasting a day, needs to expedite implementation of the scheme before sweat of agitations/ex-servicemen remained engaged in this noble cause, is dried. The veterans, almost now as senior citizens, are eager to enjoy the fruits of their young age, as early as possible.
Yours etc….
