JAMMU, Nov 28: A general body meeting of Ophthalmic Technicians’ Association (OTA), Jammu Province was held today under the chairmanship of Sushil Sudan, provincial president JKMEF, Jammu, to highlight their demands. Later, the meeting also elected new office bearers of the OTA.
Addressing the members, RK Kotwal, OTA provincial president, impressed upon the authorities concerned to remove the pay anomaly of Ophthalmic Technicians created vide Government Order No: HME 254 of Sept 1994 besides creation of new posts of Junior Ophthalmic Technicians in all newly created PHCs, as the number of Eye patients have increased many folds over the years due to which the existing concerned personal are under tremendous pressure of work load.
He further appealed the Government to create more posts of Senior Ophthalmic Technicians and supervisor Ophthalmic Technician in all CHCs and District Hospitals.
Sushil Sudan while addressing the meeting urged the authorities concerned to create more posts of Head Ophthalmic Technicians in all District Hospitals besides creation of new posts of Chief Ophthalmic Technicians at all District Hospitals of Erstwhile old districts.
At the end of the meeting, a general body election of the association was held under the supervision of Vinod Kumar Sharma, secretary general, JKMEF, Jammu. RK Kotwal was unanimously nominated and elected as provincial president of the Association for the 2nd term.
Ram Ratan Sharma was elected as general secretary, Jagdeep Khajuria as senior vice-president, Ram Krishan Sharma as vice-president, Amjad Abaas and Jaswinder Singh as organisers, Kanwar Singh as publicity secretary, Harikrishan as joint secretary, SM Khajuria as advisor, Neeraj Deonia as cashier and Kuldeep Kumar Sharma, Mohinder Singh Chandel, KK Gupta, Sat Pal, Jatinder Kumar and Sham Sundar as executive body members.
