One more arrested for setting house on fire

JAMMU, Jan 8: One more person has been arrested for setting a house on fire in Pushp Enclave, falling under the jurisdiction of Gangyal Police Station, taking the toll of arrested persons to three.
As per police sources, a house was partially damaged due to explosion at 12:30 am in Pushp Colony area of Gangyal during the intervening night of December 20 and 21 last year, as the family was not present when the explosion took place, a police official said.
“Cooking gas cylinders in the house were ruled out from being the cause behind the blast as they were found intact”, sources said, adding that after receiving information, police team led by SDPO South Dr Sunniya Ashkoor Wani along with SHO Gangyal SI Nayat Ali reached the spot and informed the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.
Two fire tenders along with fire fighters reached the spot and doused the flames erupted due to explosion.
Samples of material found on the explosion site were collected by the experts of FSL, sources said, adding that the house was locked and all the four members residing in this house are behind bars in a murder case.
“It was assumed that the some relatives of the murdered person has set the house on fire and during the course of investigation, police arrested two persons few days back and one person today”, sources, said adding that the accused, who has been arrested today has been identified as Devinder Singh, son of Tarlok Singh, a resident of Digiana Pully.
Two persons, who were arrested earlier, have been identified as Jatin Kumar and Charanveer Singh, both residents of Nai Basti.
A case under FIR Number 99/18 under relevant sections stands registered at Gangyal Police Station and hunt is going on to arrest some other persons involved in setting the house on fire.
Police team led by SHO Gangyal Police Station SI Nayat Ali made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Dr Sunniya Ashkoor Wani, SP South Vinay Kumar and SSP Jammu Tejinder Singh.
