RAMBAN, Apr 11: A Scooty rider was killed here today after a vehicle hit him on Ramban old alignment road in Maitra area.
Police sources said that a vehicle (Tata Yodha) bearing registration number JK19A-6409 hit a Scooty bearing registration number JK19-8913 near Army transit camp Maitra leaving the two wheeler rider critically injured.
He was rushed to District Hospital Ramban by some pedestrians where after medical aid he was referred to Government Associated Medical College and Hospital Udhampur but he died on the way.
Police has identified the deceased as Sajjad Ahmed, son of Mohamad Iqbal, resident of Tatarsoo, Ramban.
Police has arrested the driver involved in the accident and he was identified as Jahangeer Ahmed, son of Mohammad Qasim, resident of Parnote, tehsil and district Ramban.
SHO Police Station Ramban, Inspector Vikram Parihar said a case in FIR No. 64 of 2025 under Section 281/125(a) BNS was registered in this regard and investigation started at Police Station Ramban.
