KATHUA, Sept 5: One person died while another was seriously injured, when the scooty on which they were riding collided with a stranded vehicle near RTO Office, Kathua late last night.
According to the police, two persons namely Sunny Kumar (36) son of Monahar Lal resident of Ward Number 10, Kathua and other Tirath Kumar(37) son of Om Prakash who were on their way from Lakhanpur to Kathua on their scooty, could not negotiate the stranded vehicle and got hit with it as it was dark and raining hard last night.
On getting the information, police party from Lakhanpur shifted both the serious injured to District Hospital, Kathua. Doctors declared Sunny Kumar as brought dead. Other seriously injured, Tirath Kumar was shifted to Amristar for specialised treatment.
The body of Sunny Kumar was handed over to the legal heirs after conducting post-mortem.
Meanwhile, a person namely Vijay Singh, son Kartar Singh resident of Dakhkat, Hatli, Lakhanpur got his left arm injured in an accidental gun fire. He was shifted to District Hospital, Kathua and was later shifted to Pathankot Hospital for specialised treatment where he is responding to the treatment when last reports came in.
Lakhanpur Police has taken cognizance in both the cases and started investigation.
