RAMBAN, Feb 10: One person was killed and three others received injuries in a road accident here today after an E-Auto Rickshaw skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge near Nachlana.
Sources informed that the ill fated rickshaw bearing registration number JK19A-7315, en-route Nachlana from Khari, met with an accident near Army camp Nachlana at 3 pm today leaving four persons injured.
After the accident, locals and the troops from the nearby Indian Army Nachlana Camp immediately responded and carried out a swift rescue operation.
The injured were identified as Ghulam Hassan, 65, son of Lasu Sohil, resident of Chaknarwah; Fatima Begum, 57, wife of Ghulam Hassan and they sustained multiple injuries and fractures while Mohd Akram, 32, son of Abdul Hamid, resident of Sila Gandote, Ramban, suffered severe head injury and an eight years old girl Hadaya Jaan, daughter of Nazir Ahmed sustained minor injuries.
Army personnel evacuated the victims and provided them golden hour first aid at Army Camp MI Room, where the injured were stabilised.
The three criticality injured persons were subsequently shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Banihal, where first aid was administered to them. Considering the seriousness of their injuries, all the three were later on referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for advanced treatment.
Later on Ghulam Hassan succumbed to his injuries during treatment at GMC Anantnag.
Police has taken cognisance of the accident.
