JAMMU, Jan 8: Nagrota Police has arrested a person with heroin-like substance .
A police naka was laid near SDH, Jagti Colony and during checking, police intercepted a motorcycle without a registration number plate coming from NHW-44 towards Jagti Township.
Sensing suspicion, the police signalled the motorcycle to stop. However, the rider managed to flee from the spot, while the pillion rider was apprehended. During his personal search, police recovered 7.3 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession.
The arrested accused was identified as Younis Alam of Purnia district, Bihar, presently residing at Gosain Chak, Jammu. The absconding rider was identified as Fareed of Gosain Chak, Phallian Mandal, Jammu. Preliminary investigation revealed that both were allegedly involved in possession and transportation of contraband for sale among youth.
In this connection, FIR Number 03/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Nagrota. Further investigation is underway to trace and apprehend other persons linked with the drug supply network.
