One held with heroin-like substance

JAMMU, May 15: Jammu and Kashmir Police today foiled a narcotics smuggling bid in the South Zone by arresting one individual with a heroin-like substance.
Around 4 pm, one person, walking from Bari Brahamana side towards Kunjwani Chowk, turned back on noticing the police naka at Greater Kailash area, a police official said.
He said the alert police immediately chased and caught him. On questioning, the police official said, the suspect initially refused to disclose his identity but later revealed his name as Wazeer Ahmed of Gool, district Ramban.
A personal search of the suspect led to the recovery of a transparent pouch from his right pant pocket containing approximately 4-5 grams of heroin-like-substance, he said, adding the accused failed to justify the possession of the contraband.
As such, he was arrested and booked in case FIR number 60/2025 under sections 8, 21, 22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Gangyal and further investigation taken up.
