One held with banned nylon thread from Manda

JAMMU, July 14: Continuing its drive against the banned nylon Gattu thread, Police in Pacca Danga area have arrested a man during naka checking at Manda Naka and recovered six rolls of the hazardous thread from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Tarun Sharma of Khajuria Mohalla, Patyaria, District Kathua.
Police said the accused was intercepted while riding a scooty (JK02CH 4954) and during search, six rolls of nylon thread were recovered from the dickey.
Police have registered a case under FIR number 75/2025 under Section 223 of BNS at Police Station Pacca Danga and further investigation is underway.
This is the second arrest within two days by Pacca Danga Police in action against the illegal possession of banned thread, as authorities intensify efforts to enforce the District Magistrate’s prohibition order.
The use, possession, and sale of nylon Gattu thread is banned under District Magistrate Jammu’s Order number DMJ/LO/25-26/801-06 dated June 25, 2025, due to its harmful effects on birds, humans, animals, and the environment.
Meanwhile, police have urged the public to avoid the use of banned threads and report any violations to help maintain community safety.
