UDHAMPUR, Apr 15: A drug peddler along with 25 kg of poppy straw was arrested today by Udhampur police.
A team of police station Udhampur led by SHO Inspector Chanchal Singh under the supervision of Sahil Mahajan Deputy SP Headquarters Udhampur laid a naka at Jakhani Chowk on National Highway for checking.
During naka checking, the police party stopped one truck bearing registration number PB06AS-5023 which was subjected to thorough search. During search of vehicle, 25 kg of poppy straw like substance was recovered.
The narcotic smuggler namely Rajinder Singh son of Balwant Singh, resident of Kapoorthala (Punjab) was arrested on spot and poppy straw as well as the vehicle were seized.
In this connection, a case FIR number 134/2021 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at police station Udhampur and further investigation started.
