JAMMU, July 31: One person was arrested at Lakhanpur Toll Plaza with 14 kg of poppy straw.
A joint team of the officials of Excise and Police Department, Lakhanpur led by Virender Singh Billowria, GL Sharma, ETO, Toll Post, Lakhanpur and Anuroop Sharma, SHO police station Lakhanpur, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK02R-7457, which was on its way from Jalandhar to Srinagar, and recovered 14 kg of Poppy straw hidden in two bags beneath the potatoes loaded in the vechicle.
The recovered Poppy straw was seized and the accused driver namely Tasadaq Bhat son of Ghulam Quadir Bhat, a resident of Batmola Tral in Kashmir, was arrested.
A case in this connection under NDPS Act, 1985, has been registered at police station Lakhanpur.
