One dies of suspected poisoning, three make abortive attempts on life

JAMMU, Aug 30: A woman today died of suspected poisoning in Akhnoor area while three persons including a woman made abortive bids on their lives by consuming some poisonous substances at their respective residences in city outskirts.
According to police sources, a woman identified as Pooja Devi (30) wife of Bhushan Sharma, resident of Badgal (Akhnoor), suddenly fell ill and started vomiting just after taking her meal this morning. The woman was rushed to Sub-District Hospital, Akhnoor, where she died after few hours. The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for post mortem.
A woman namely Kanta Devi (32) wife of Dev Raj, resident of Bhalwal, today consumed some poisonous substance at her home following which she was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for treatment.
Similarly, one Abit (23) son of Bimal, resident of Muthi also consumed some poisonous substance at his residence. He was immediately shifted to GMCH by the family members.
In another case, a man identified as Mohan Lal son of Chajju Ram and resident of Keer Pind falling under Police Station Miran Sahib, consumed some poisonous substance at his residence after which he was shifted to Government Hospital, RS Pura. Later, he was referred to GMCH for treatment.
In all four cases, the concerned police have taken cognizance.
