JAMMU, Nov 21: A one day training programme on “Management Competencies” was organized by Indian Institute of Public Administration, (IIPA)J&K Regional Branch, here. The programme was attended by 120 officers from various State Government departments including Directorate of Sheep Husbandry, Directorate of Information, J&K Police, Tourism, J&K SICOP, Agricul-ture, SMVDSB, JDA, JMC, Drugs & Food Control Organization, RTIC, MED, ICDS, PDD, Excise & Taxation, PCCF, JK PCC Ltd., CA&PD, PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Handicrafts, Comme-rcial Taxes, Cooperatives, Social Welfare, Excise, Transport, Home, Relief Organization, Employment, Health & Medical Education, Forests, Rural Development, Revenue, Education, Estates, Industries & Commerce Deptt.
Gazzanfar Hussian, Comm-issioner/Secretary, GAD, was the guest of honor during the Valedictory function.
While introducing the theme of the training programme Prof Alka Sharma, Director (Seminars), IIPA JK Regional Branch emphasized the role of management competencies for good governance. She identified six competency areas i.e. Building Strategic Alliances, Vision and Goal Setting, Change Management, Creative Problem Solving, Promoting Empow-erment and Executive Presence for professional effectiveness.
Dr. Ashok Bhan, former DGP, and Patron, IIPA shared his professional experiences while delivering his talk on “Leadership”. He heavily emphasized on the need to lead the change and be a catalyst for bringing transformation in the future workplaces. He said that leadership is all about and Vision and Will and that delegation and accountability are the two pillars for organizational success.
Earlier Dr. Neelika Arora, Assistant Professor, Department of HRM & OB, Central University of Jammu spoke on the need and relevance of “Positive Attitude” at workplace.
Dr. Komal Nagar, Assistant Professor, The Business School and Joint Director (Seminar), IIPA in her session on “Lateral Thinking” highlighted the concept of left and right brain and the role of creativity in enhancing the performance at all levels.
Dr. Anil Gupta, Assistant Professor, The Business School and Joint Secretary, IIPA delivered a talk on “Service Orientation” and emphasized the need for building various competencies including patience, tenacity, time management, attentiveness etc in building this orientation among public servants.
During the valedictory session the participants also shared their feedback of the training programme while the dignitaries released the IIPA Newsletter. Er. J.B.S.Johar Hony Secretary presented the vote of thanks.
