JAMMU, June 28: A one-day awareness camp-cum-Kissan-Mela was orgainsed by the J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans under Information, Education and Communication (IEC) programme at Dhabar-Potha, Nowshera (Rajouri) which a large number of farmers participated.
All the wings of Agriculture and aided departments had laid their stalls wherefrom the Officers of Agriculture and allied farmers Agricultural technology for boosting their agricultural produce.
The gathering was specially addressed by Radhay Sham Sharma, Vice Chairman, (Minister of State) J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans and advised the farming community to take maximum benefits of the various farmer friendly schemes launched by the State and Central Governments and use the latest agriculture technologies for boosting their crop production including cash crops.
Laying stress on the research work to evolve hybrid varieties of fruit and vegetables, the Vice Chairman said that scientists should focus on the varieties which suit to the local conditions.
He stated that the scientists and other Officers of the Agriculture Universities must speed up the activities and produce quality seeds and evolve techniques which would help the farmers in boosting their production.
The Vice Chairman asked the farmers to adopt flowers cultivation in a big way and apprised them that the Government has made requisite arrangements for proper marketing of these crops.
Besides the Vice Chairman, G. N. Mir, Secretary of the Board, Chief Agriculture Officer, Rajouri, Sub Divisional Officer Nowshera R S. Jamwal and other Progressive Farmers including Sarpanch/Panch also spoke to the gathering on the occasion.
