SRINAGAR, Mar 5: National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah today said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is in touch with External Affairs Minister to ensure the safe evacuation of students stranded in Iran amid the ongoing conflict.
Speaking to reporters here, Abdullah said the Jammu and Kashmir Government is closely coordinating with the Foreign Ministry (FM) regarding the situation of Kashmiri students. “It is a war. America wants to take over, and the results will not be good,” he said.
Abdullah said many Kashmiris live in Gulf countries while several students from the region are currently studying in Iran. “Our students are stuck in Iran. God willing, they will come back,” he said.
He added that the Chief Minister is actively working with the Ministry of External Affairs to secure their evacuation. “Omar is doing this for them with the help of the Foreign Ministry,” Abdullah said.
According to him, the students have been moved to safer locations and arrangements are being made to bring them back. “They have been kept in safe places. They will be brought back by land,” he said.
