JAMMU, Apr 17: Describing Chief Minister Omar Abdullah as immature in politics, State president Bahujan Samaj Party, Tulsi Dass Langeh said that being from the third generation of the Abdullah family, the CM is not fully aware of the facts and figures regarding the history of the State.
Mr Langeh, while addressing the workers meeting at Vijaypur and reacting to Omar’s speech on the eve of the celebration of 122nd birth day, said that after the Independence, barring three years of PDP rule, either National Conference, Congress or NC-Congress coalition has ruled the State, but have hardly done anything special with regard to upliftment of SCs and STs.
Langeh said that he would like to remind Mr Omar Abdullah that the modern Indian Constitution written by Baba Sahib Dr BR Ambedkar was adopted by the Indian Nation on January 26, 1950 and the reservation of SC, ST was commenced, adding that their ancestors had to give blood for getting the constitutional reservation in Jammu and Kashmir.
BSP leader further informed that it was only after the hunger strike by Shaheed Bhagat Amar Nath Ji in the month of May, 1970 that the State Government implemented 8 percent reservation to SCs and STs, while after a gap of 39 years, 10 percent reservation was given to STs.
