REASI, June 11: Former MLA and State Vice President of the NC’s Women Wing, Bimla Luthra, today stated that the Omar Abdullah-led Government was focussed on empowerment of the women in the Union Territory.
Luthra stated this while addressing a well-attended meeting of the women workers in Reasi, organised by Mohni Devi.
During the meeting, the NC workers highlighted key issues like drinking water shortage and unscheduled power cuts, especially with temperatures soaring above 43°C.
Bimla Luthra assured the gathering that all public grievances would be taken up with concerned Cabinet Ministers and addressed on priority.
She highlighted major welfare steps taken by the Omar Abdullah-led Government during its early months, including free travel for women in Government buses, increase in marriage assistance for AAY families from Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000, 200 units of free electricity per month for AAY households, and doubling the monthly ration quota from 5 kg to 10 kg per person.
On the occasion, Luthra also announced new office bearers of the Women Wing in Reasi district. While Mohni Devi was nominated as District President, Raziya Bano as Vice President, Arshad Parvin as Secretary, and Nur Jahan as Organizer.
Prominent workers present at the meeting included Tariq Bhutt, Sapna Gill, Madhu, Balwinder Kumar and others.
