KATHUA, Oct 13: Security forces detected and safely defused an old mortar shell found in Kathua district, officials said.
The shell was discovered in a farm land in Karol Mathura border village in the Hiranagar sector on Sunday evening following information provided by local residents, they said.
They said a bomb disposal squad was called to the spot, who took the mortar shell into their custody and defused it safely,
