Old man murdered

JAMMU, Mar 5: A 75-year-old man was found murdered today at his residence in Mandlik Nagar (Paloura) area of Jammu.
According to police sources, a 75-year-old man namely Surinder Singh son of Sardar Singh, resident of Tralian (Vijaypur) was found dead under mysterious circumstances late this morning at Mandlik Nagar (Paloura) in a house, where he was residing with the family of his late brother.
Sources said the body was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu and after postmortem, it was handed over to its legal heirs for last rites and a murder case was registered in this connection at police station Janipur.
They said acting swiftly, a police team of Janipur police led by SHO Naresh Sharma under the supervision of SDPO Amit Sharma and overall supervision of SSP Jammu, Sridhar Patil, arrested the prime suspect, which is well known to the family.
“We are interrogating the suspect to know the theory and motive behind the murder but it is almost certain that the murder has been done by this lone suspect,” sources added. They said the old man was killed by strangulating.
