JAMMU, Nov 25: A review meeting of the Old Janipur Civil Society Action Committee, chaired by Kulwant Singh Sambyal, was held to address a series of long-pending civic issues affecting residents of Old Janipur and surrounding localities in Jammu.
Members expressed concern over the ongoing National Flag installation at JDA Park, Old Janipur, stressing that the prominent site requires enhanced security arrangements, improved public facilities and seating areas protected from direct sunlight. They also called for the installation of floodlights and CCTV cameras connected to the local police station to ensure real-time monitoring and visitor safety.
The Committee reviewed the slow progress in repairing the Community Hall at Mohalla Shant Nagar, and demanded urgent attention to blacktopping of internal lanes, repair of non-functional streetlights, pruning of overgrown trees, and overall sanitation in JDA Park Shanti Nagar. Additional concerns were raised about the poor condition of bathrooms at JDA Park Mohalla Ramvihar, absence of adequate staff such as watchmen and gardeners, and the need for CCTV surveillance.
Further unresolved issues include the requirement for new drainage systems, road blacktopping, streetlight repairs, and cooling equipment maintenance across areas such as Mohalla Ramvihar, Shant Nagar, Pandoka Colony, Indira Vihar, Hari Nagar, Indira Colony, and Kabir Nagar Door Darshan Lane.
