Gani was apprehended from Maggar Khad area in Lakhanpur and shifted to Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, officials said.
According to them, Gani has 10 FIRs registered against him since 2008 across three Police Stations in Kathua under various sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
“A detailed dossier highlighting his repeated violations was submitted to the District Magistrate, leading to the issuance of a PSA warrant,” officials said.
In a separate action in Kishtwar, District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar Shavan ordered the detention of two individuals, including an Over Ground Worker (OGW) under the PSA.
“Rustam Ali Bhagwan, an Over Ground Worker (OGW) allegedly involved in aiding militants and reviving terrorist activity, was found to pose a serious threat to security,” officials said.
The second individual, Arshad Hussain, was described as a notorious thief involved in multiple burglary and theft cases in the district. Both individuals have been detained for disrupting peace and public order.
The District Magistrate of Kishtwar has so far issued PSA detention orders against eight individuals since assuming office, reflecting a firm approach against anti-national and criminal elements.
He has also warned miscreants obstructing Government projects of strict legal action.
