Official machinery missing in flood hit areas: Vakil

SRINAGAR, Apr 2: Former Minister and senior Congess, Abdul Gani Vakil today visited number of villages of Rafiabad constituency and took stock of the situation that has arisen due to incessant rains and flood like situation.
In a press statement Mr Vakil said that at the number of places especially Brandub, Khanmoh, Braman, Dooniwari and Reban, soil erosion and sinking of land has posed a potential threat to life and property of the people living there. He said that despite people suffering a lot on the said account, they have not been taken care of by the Government and height of the situation is that none from the Government machinery has visited them. He alleged that district administration is just like a silent spectator virtually defunct and in this regard accountability is missing.
Former Minister appealed the Government to depute a high level team to the affected areas so that timely action can save their life and property. He said that most of the connecting roads in Rafiabad constituency are inundated which has also added to the miseries of the people manifold.
Mr Vakil also appealed the Government to look into the issue of horticulturists whose orchards have got damaged due to incessant rains. He said that from the production to marketing everything has got affected. The Congress leader appealed the Government to shun its uncared attitude and step motherly treatment towards Horticulturalists and extend reviving incentives to them and waive of 100% KCC loans without inordinate delay so that these people can stand up and bear their losses.
