OBC Adhikar Tiranga Yatra delegation calls on CM

JAMMU, June 13: To raise their demands, a deputation comprising of OBC different organizations under the banner of OBC Adhikar Tiranga Yatra met with CM Omar Abdullah, here today.
During their meeting, the deputation also submitted a charter of demands to the Chief Minister.
Their main demands included, to conduct fresh door to door survey of OBC masses in Jammu and Kashmir, before the Panchayat and Municipalities election.
They demand political reservation for OBC’s in Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly, in Urban Local Bodies and in Panchayati Raj System as per population.
The deputation urged the CM to re-start providing them state OBC certificates, which were stalled by the Tehsildars after conversion of the state in to a UT.
“We brought this discrimination into the notice of Commissioner-Secretary, Social welfare Department and necessary action was taken. After that the the JK-UT Government send their recommendations to Union Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, but file is pending in this Ministry since 2023. So, we request your goodself for justice at an earliest,” they said.
The members demanded allotment of piece of land for the landless OBC and urged the Government to issue OBC certificates in favour of the OBC landless persons by the Revenue Department.
The issue of scholarships for the students of OBC category and constitution of a new Permanent Backward Classes Commission for inclusion & exclusion of OBC castes including Hanji, Gow, Gujri, Jullaha, Yogi and Bowria and Ahanger communities in the central list of OBC’s as they were entered in the JK-UT lists OBC’s vide S.R.O:- 408 dtd. 19.06.2019. Their files are pending with the National Commission for Backward Classes New Delhi since 2021.
Among others who were present in the delegation included Ghulam Hassan Sheer Gujri, Bansi Lal Choudhary, Faquir Chand Satia, Mohd Rashid, Kewal Krishan Fotra, Raj Kumar Chalotra, Sain Dass and Raju Prajapati.
