This has reference to the news item ‘Govt dilly-dallying on making Nubra Development Authority functional’ DE May, 2018.
It is quite dismaying that the promise made with the Nubra-Turtuk Valley people has not been fulfilled yet by the present dispensation.
There were great expectations that with the formation of Nubra Development Authority the tourism sector in the region would get a big boost, but all hopes have been dashed to the ground as the promise in this regard has not been fulfilled yet.
What is more hurting the people is that no one has bothered to act on the promise made by the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti herself. Had the Authority come up by this time, the region would have been witnessing rapid socio-economic change. Alas, no change is visible on the ground. It seems that this region does not mean much for the present PDP-BJP coalition Government. Had it some relevance, it would have received much attention and Nubra Development Authority would have become operational.
It is time for the Government to act on the promise made with the people of the peaceful region and regain the credibility it once had in the region.
