JAMMU, June 4: National Student Union of India (NSUI) has demanded cancellation of 12th JKBOSE examination on the lines of Central Board of School Education (CBSE).
In his letter to LG of J&K, Manoj Sinha, NSUI National president Neeraj Kundan said, the Covid-19 pandemic has affected the students and created a sense of uncertainty among students. He added, there is a clear-cut chance of a third wave in the future as Scientific advisor to Prime Minister Vijay Raghavan himself said, “Phase 3 is inevitable given the high levels of circulating virus. But it is not clear on what timescale this Phase 3 will occur. Hopefully, incrementally, but we should prepare for new waves.”
He also said, if we look at the statistics then according to the vaccination policy, only people above the age of 18 years are eligible for the vaccine, and majority of the students appearing for these exams are below the age of 18 and at present there is no policy regarding their vaccination, Kundan also questioned current pace of vaccination and its shortage, and said if we wait for all the students to get vaccinated then it will be very time consuming which will further affect their academic year.
Kundan said that, during this time the Union Government was about to conduct the CBSE class 12th exams but a few days back the government has cancelled those exams and this has proved to be much relief to the students as we can see. Neeraj Kundan further added, after this decision of the Central Government, states like Maharashtra and Karnataka have also cancelled their respective state board exams after considering the present situation.
“We hope Govt will realise this fact and cancel the JKBOSE exams fior the safety of the students,” Kundan said.
