JAMMU, Nov 25: Demanding a CBI probe into appointment of alleged ineligible persons in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, National Secular Forum (NSF) today demanded reservation for students and academicians of Jammu in SMVDU.
Talking to media persons, NSF president Sukhdev Singh alleged violation of statutes in SMVDU for giving benefit to adjust some close relative of the incumbent Vice-Chancellor in the university. He also listed some lacunas in the appointment of Prof S K Jain as VC of SMVDU and appealed President of India to initiate a probe in this regard.
The NSF leader lamented that more than 90 percent of teaching staff as well as M Phil and Ph D scholars in SMVDU were outsiders. “Jammuites had presumed that SMVDU would benefit them on account of providing jobs but maximum positions in the university have been occupied by the outsiders,” he said and demanded reservation to locals in the university.
