JAMMU, July 17: National Panthers Party (NPP) working chairman and MLA Harsh Dev Singh has expressed concern over non-initiation of construction work in respect of Ramnagar Satellite Campus of University despite sanction of adequate funds for the purpose more than a year back.
He said UGC had released Rs 11 crore for creation of infrastructure for Ramnagar Satellite University Campus during June 2011 but not a single penny has been expended till date. He said local public of the area had even donated around 200 kanal of land to University free of cost which though had been taken over by the University but no construction activities have been initiated thereafter.
Flaying lack luster approach of University authorities as well as R&B Department, he has sought fixation of responsibility for the in-ordinate delay caused in the process. He said students of Ramnagar University Campus were forced to study in college premises in inadequate accommodation despite release of grants for University Campus.
Harsh Dev Singh has appealed the Chancellor of the University, the Governor, to personally intervene as the University fell within his domain. He urged the Governor to take stock of the progress and performance of the University and its Satellite Campuses sanctioned for various places in the State.
He further appealed the Governor to hold the University Council meet to review the functioning of the universities and their campuses and to fix the responsibilities for omissions and commissions in the working of the said institutions in view of widespread public concern.
