NPP protests over ignorance of Jammu martyrs by PDP-BJP Govt

JAMMU, May 24: Exposing Saffron Brigade’s despicable retreat on the sacrifices of the six Jammu martyrs who were ambushed in Manipur last year, Panthers Party today staged a protest along with the families of the martyrs here at Exhibition Ground over the treacherous surrender made by the BJP before the PDP for the crumbs of power.
Led by their provincial president, Rajesh Padgotra, JKNPP activists raised slogans against the State Government. Padgotra disclosed to the media that 18 Jawans of 6 Dogra were ambushed to death by Naxalites at Manipur on June 4 last year among whom six martyrs belonged to Jammu region including JCO Ram Singh of Vijaypur, Hav Randeep Singh of Akhnoor, Hav Sunil Sharma of Sundarbani, Hav Satpal of Muthi (Jammu), Lans Naik Kuldeep Raj of Muthi (Jammu) and Sepoy Vijay Kumar of Akhnoor.
He said that the State Government turned a blind eye to the supreme sacrifices of these valiant soldiers of Jammu and refused the ex-gratia and compensation to the martyrs while on the other hand, UP Government had announced an ex-gratia of Rs 20 lakh each to the next of the kins of its two slain martyrs and Himachal Pradesh Government had announced Rs 5 lakh each to the family members of the martyrs killed in the ambush.
Padgotra expressed his surprise over the State Government glorifying the Parliament attack convict, Afzal Guru and other secessionist leaders on several occasions but the martyrs who attained supreme sacrifice while guarding the borders of the country were left ignored and disparaged.
The NPP leader exhorted the State Government to provide ex-gratia to the bereaved families and employment benefits under SRO 43 to the next of the kin of the martyrs otherwise Panthers party shall intensify its agitation and launch a mammoth movement for the cause of the Jammu martyrs.
