Nowgam Blast: Govt Announces Ex-Gratia Relief For Victims

  • ₹10 Lakh announced for deceased, ₹1 lakh for injured

Srinagar, Nov 15: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Saturday announced ex-gratia relief from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for those affected in the Nowgam Police Station blast.
Health and Medical Education Minister Sakeena Itoo said that ₹10 lakh will be provided to the families of each deceased and ₹1 lakh to every injured person, following the directions of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Speaking to reporters after visiting the injured at Ujala Hospital, the minister said the tragic incident claimed nine lives, while around 30 others were injured.
She said several injured persons admitted at SMHS Hospital have been discharged, while nearly 20 remain under treatment at Ujala Hospital, with one or two in the ICU but reported to be stable.
Itoo appreciated the prompt response of medical teams. “The Ujala Hospital team has done a tremendous job. Doctors from CMO and SMHS reached quickly and worked throughout the night to ensure proper treatment for all the injured.”
The minister also visited the homes of several deceased victims. “On the instructions of the Chief Minister, the government will provide ₹10 lakh ex-gratia to each bereaved family and ₹1 lakh to every injured individual,” she added. (KNC)
