NEW DELHI: Minister of State for External Affairs Gen (Retd) V K Singh on Friday joined issue with Trinamool Congress and other parties for trying to suggest that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on a ‘shooting’ location even three hours after news of Pulwama terror attack came in.
“It is easy to sit back in an armchair and tweet about national security,” Gen (Retd) V K Singh tweeted in response to a missive from Trinamool Congress leader Derek-O-Brien.
“For once hold a gun and stand shoulder to shoulder with the soldiers on the borders, I have done that and I can tell you it takes a lot of grit, determination and courage,” Gen Singh said.
He further said – “Above all when you question PM Narendra Modi, please look at his track record. He has been the most decisive PM that India has had”.
“I have worked with other establishments too and I can tell you, if there is one government that can set things right,it’s the one led by him,” tweeted former chief of Indian army.
“Never thought politics would fall to such a shallow level…. We lost over 40 men, who tweeted first, who tweeted last is of little relevance.
This is about our nation, and not about using this as an opportunity to project Mamata Banerjee as a ‘national leader’,” Gen Singh wrote.
In a similar strong missive, BJP’s official Twitter handle also wrote – ”Rahul Ji, India is tired of your fake news. Stop sharing photos from that morning to shamelessly mislead the nation”.
The saffron party also sought to mock at the grand old party saying maybe the Congress knew of the attack ‘in advance’, but “people of the country came to know about it in the evening only”.
