SRINAGAR, June 10: Traffic Police National Highways, Headquarter Ramban, which looks after the traffic management in districts of Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar, Udhampur and Reasi besides a large network of hilly rural roads in a vast accident prone areas, has established a network to man these NHs efficiently. A permanent mechanism of having cell numbers for every post has been established.
The communique said that the traffic flow on Jammu-Ramban-Srinagar and Jammu-Doda-Kishtwar National Highways is increasing day by day which is posing challenge to Traffic Police deployed for duties on these Highways.
The system put in place will help the public in large and will act as a strong feedback mechanism for the Traffic Police.
The Traffic Police Ramban has advised the road users viz drivers, passengers and transporters to note the 65 identified Cell numbers of the officers deployed along National Highway and call the nearest officer for any sort of traffic assistance, complaints and other grievances. The Cell numbers have been published in leading newspapers for information of the general public.
As per the communique, the intention of introducing CUG is mainly to reduce the inconvenience to the general public, road users. Practical and timely suggestions through this CUG network will help the Traffic Police to make the system effective and accountable, the communication said.
